The Hot Springs Savage Heat track and field team completed season action at the State C meet in Laurel last week.
Freshman sensation Katelyn Christensen was the star of the show for Hot Springs, recording personal bests to win second in the javelin (with a best throw of 127 feet, 7 inches) and fifth in the long jump (16-2.25). Please see View from the Sidelines for more on Christensen.
Tyler Carr and Kyle Lawson carried the colors for Hot Springs on the boys side of the meet.
A senior, Carr very nearly earned a medal in the 110 meter hurdles, taking seventh place in 16.23 seconds. He also ran the 300 meter hurdles, clocking 43.77 for 16th place in final standings.
A freshman, Lawson also ran in the 300 meter hurdles in Laurel and timed out of the race in 45.50 seconds.
