An arrest was made Monday in a string of recent thefts on the west end of Sanders County.
Detective Martin Spring with the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said that one suspect was arrested. The name of the individual has not been released by SCSO or the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office.
Spring stated the thefts began Sunday evening, June 16, and that the SCSO started receiving reports the next day. “We had 12 cars broken into and one car stolen,” he said, noting that the subjects involved stole a vehicle that was recovered in Moses Lake, Washington.
Spring said that they have recovered some of the stolen property, which included ID cards, debit and credit cards, purses, CDs, change and other miscellaneous items. He said that if residents discover items missing from the thefts, they should contact spring at 827-6936.
The investigation is ongoing, Spring said. He noted that in most of the thefts, the vehicles were unlocked. In the case of the stolen vehicle, the keys were left in the vehicle.
“Don’t leave your keys in your car and remember to lock it,” Spring said. “We’ve had a pretty bad rash of vehicle break-ins lately.”
