Question of the Week

What's the secret to a successful yard sale?

CRISTINA SUMMERS, Noxon – “You have to be in the line of traffic. I live on the main street where people head into town. We have easy parking. People are looking for a good deal, so things need to be almost free.

CHRIS LABIAK, Noxon – “It helps to have a storage unit where everything is inside if the weather gets bad. If you are part of a church group, you can get a lot people to do it together. If you are traveling in a RV, you can pull out your awning and display your goods.”

PAUL MOORE, Spokane – “Good signage, put a price tag on each item because nobody wants to ask. Be nice.”

JOHN ROEMER, Missoula — "Get things off the ground and onto a table in nice displays. People like items at waist level so they don’t need to bend down or stretch up.”

AMANDA MOSELEY,Thompson Falls (Manager of Little Bitterroot Thrift Shop) — “The world has a lot stuff. Reusing is good therapy rather then always buying new. Location is a big thing for yard sales. We could outfit a whole village with what we have in the store.”

GWEN ESLER, Thompson Falls –“If you really want to sell things, put a cheap price on it and be willing to bargain with people. I really wanted a grand piano, they were asking $1,500. It wasn’t the price but it was too grand to fit in my house.”
