Wolverines are the subject of a special presentation at a banquet sponsored by the Cube Iron – Cataract Coalition. The banquet is this Friday night, July 12, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Elks Club in Thompson Falls. Montana artist, photographer and outdoorsman Kalon Baughan will show memorable images of wolverines and discuss research on these remarkable creatures. Some of Kalon’s work can be viewed at kalonbaughanfineart.com
A slide and video show by Andrew Klaus will provide a visual tour of the CICC area. This is a local area of mostly wild country that stretches from the Vermilion to the Thompson River, and serves as a big and beautiful backyard to our nearby communities.
The area includes many prominent peaks, including Cube Iron, Silcox, Cougar, Cataract, Headley, Vermilion and Priscilla. It also includes the Four Lakes area and numerous other wild mountain lakes. The CICC describes the area as a haven for wildlife, quiet recreation, hunting, berry picking and family adventures. The CICC is a local group working to build community awareness and support for this special backcountry area. For information, visit cubeironcataract.org
The public is invited to this event. Admission is $10 per person, or $15 per couple.
