Chasing that elusive yellow ball for fame and fortune. Okay, maybe not for fame and fortune but at least for a fun time on the links.
The Over the Hill gang broke into teams and played a yellow ball scramble this past sunny Monday morning at River’s Bend.
With one member of each team playing a yellow ball for score, the other members played in a best-ball format.
When the yellow haze had cleared from the greens and fairways, Buck Adams, Steve Wolf, Charlie Hooten and Rusty Haggard registered the winning yellow ball round of 29, Dave Petteys, Sharon Pound and Ron Belger were second with 37.3, and Mike Smith, Sam Bernhardt and Barb Wooden took third with 37.7.
In the scramble, Larry Eddy, Dennis Gripp, Ron Sharp and Bary Moore teamed up to shoot the low round of 23.25, Carter Meyer, Sam Burt, Dave Tallant and Reese Woolford were next with 23.7 and Randy Hojem, Rick Kendall, Bruce Haflich and John Torres registered 24.5.
In hole play, Hooten was closest to the pin in 2 on No. 10 and rolled in the long putt on No. 15, Wooden knocked down the long putt on No. 11, Rusty Sharp bagged the long putt on No. 12, Meyer was good with the long putt on No. 13, Eddy was closest to the pin on No. 14, Scott Garr muscled the long 70+ drive down the fairway on No. 15, Ron Belger converted the long putt on No. 16, Pound earned long-putt honors on No. 17, Moore made the long putt of the day on No. 18, and Kendall crushed the long men’s drive on No. 18.
