Avista Scramble proceeds to benefit Project ASCENT

by Annie Wooden

Golfers will tee off Saturday morning for the 11th Annual Avista Charity Scramble. The event is hosted by Avista at River’s Bend Golf Course in Thompson Falls. Each year, a local organization is chosen to benefit form the tournament proceeds. Project ASCENT will be the recipient at this year’s tournament.

While the golf roster was full as of Monday, there are opportunities for non-golfers to get in on the action. Golfers will tee off at 9 a.m. and silent auction items will be on display until bidding closes at 2 p.m. Community members are invited to come watch the golfers, bid on items and purchase raffle tickets. Silent auction items include a bistro set, a Callaway golf bag, custom artwork, a cornhole set and tickets to a Logjam event in Missoula.

Project ASCENT, based in Thompson Falls, promotes community and individual wellness through experiential outdoor recreational opportunities for under-served youth. This summer, the organization provided five outdoor camps to kids from throughout Montana.

The silent auction closes at 2 p.m. Saturday. To place bids online, go to 32auctions.com. For more information about Project ASCENT, go to www.
