Independently owned since 1905
The Western Sanders County TV District announced changes in the programing schedule. The Spokane stations, Heartland and Family are no longer available to rebroadcast from Clark Mountain. Currently, they have been replaced by a PBS-East feed and FNX (First Nations).
At Green Mountain, KHQ, SWX-WA and KSPS are available. KSPS is broadcast on the UHF Channel 15 so there is a short distance transmission.
According to a TV Board spokesman, the Board will apply for two more frequencies to the Federal Communication Commission. Since there is competition for over-the-air frequencies by private industries, it may take up to a year for approval, if at all. Presently, there are 17 channels transmitted.
In September, a new 50-foot antenna structure will be installed at Pat’s Knob, southeast of Plains. The U.S. Forest Service required the two TV districts to remove their receiving and transmitting equipment from the lookout, according to district representatives. There will be no TV signals transmitted while this conversion takes place.
