The Clark Fork Valley Elks Lodge is planning an authentic Oktoberfest celebration this weekend to welcome in the fall season.
Saturday beginning at noon, the lodge east of Thompson Falls will feature a biergarten, food and entertainment.
Money raised through donations and food and beverage sales will support the Elks Charitable Foundation, which supports local organizations and causes. Debbie Wilson with the Elks Charitable Foundation said all money stays in Sanders County.
The event will feature kids' crafts all day and adult contests including beer stein holding contests and hammerschlagen, a nail driving competition.
The event will feature Sam Adams Oktoberfest and Bayern Montana beers on tap. Food specials include German sausage made with Wilson's husband Eric's great grandfather's recipe and served with sauerkraut and warm potato salad, giant soft pretzels served with a ground brown mustard, and broasted chicken.
"We're excited to offer a fun event for the community," Wilson said. "I want this to be an annual draw for Sanders County and a reason to celebrate." She added that the event will be fun for the whole family. "Come and hang out for the afternoon."
