The recuperative powers of the Noxon Lady Red Devil volleyball team were on full display last week.
Afflicted with several illnesses, including a couple of cases of strep throat, coach Teri Wilkinson’s Lady Devils still managed to play some good volleyball, defeating Troy 25-18, 27-25, 21-25, 25-16 in Noxon Sept. 17, and then travelling to Arlee for the Arlee Tournament Saturday.
Perhaps feeling good in just making it to Arlee in their addled state, the Devils did not reach the semifinal round in the tourney, which featured mostly District 14C teams.
Riley Richter directed the Devil win over Arlee, dishing out 21 assists in addition to hitting eight digs. Emily Brown and Avery Brugess led the Devils at the net with eight kills and three blocks, respectively.
Ella Pierce hit eight kills, Leah Clay and Katelynn Tallmadge five assists each, Mazzy Hermes four aces, Tallmadge 10 digs and Pierce four blocks for Troy.
After hosting Valley Christian Tuesday (results of that match were not available), the Devils will entertain St. Regis in Noxon Saturday.
