CNSC sets annual lantern launch

Cancer Network of Sanders County (CNSC) is planning their last event the year, the annual lantern launch. CNSC has been selling lanterns throughout the county for $10 each. The lanterns will be launched at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, at the Sanders County Fairgrounds. Lanterns can also be purchased as the fairgrounds Saturday evening.

All sales from the lanterns go to CNSC. Kathy Miller with CNSC said a generous benefactor has donated the lanterns for this year’s event. The lanterns purchased this year are totally biodegradable, Miller said, so CNSC should not have a problem with the lanterns cluttering various areas for very long, depending on the wind. CNSC members will be available to pick up the lanterns. Also, Miller said that if residents find a lantern lying around after the event, it can be taken to Paws Here Pet Styling for a reward.

“This event is always a special day for many of our friends who are battling cancer or have lost their battle,” Miller said. “Messages can be written on the lanterns and then sent toward the heavens. Fun can be had by kids of all ages, so we invite everyone to come join in the event. You don’t have to buy lanterns. You can just come and enjoy the colors and help if you want to.”
