Rex group to host public meeting

On Thursday, January 9, at 6 p.m., there will be a meeting to discuss the plans to save the Rex Theater. The meeting will be held at the Clark Fork Valley Elks Lodge in Thompson Falls, and is open to the public. Charlie Munday and his wife Christine, members of the Rex Working Group, want to engage members of the community in order to generate enough interest to save a beloved piece of downtown Thompson Falls. “We’re just trying to put together enough interest and people to save the Rex,” Christine stated.

According to Charlie, so far the group has multiple investors and a dozen board members on the project. The purpose of Thursday’s meeting is to reiterate their purpose and goal to the community. “This is essentially a town hall meeting,” Charlie said. “We will be there to answer any questions people have, and we encourage people to voice their concerns and bring them up at this town hall meeting.”

“Call it a noble, altruistic endeavor, to be community minded, and to give the community a place to gather,” Charlie said. He continued by saying, “Do you want a town where no one can meet? Where the kids can’t put on their plays? A place where we can’t show movies or congregate? That’s why we’re doing this.”
