Lady Red Devils win, lose

The Noxon Lady Red Devils started out 2020 with an encouraging victory, fighting past visiting St. Regis for a 25-18 win in Noxon Friday.

In other action last week, coach Cortney Vohs and her Lady Devils absorbed a 62-21 road loss from Charlo Saturday.

The Devils are scheduled to play at Clark Fork (the Superior-Alberton co-op) Friday and will host Sanders County rival Hot Springs Saturday.

Vohs was impressed with how her Devils responded against St. Regis. “Every girl stepped up to play for the St. Regis game,” she said. “They went out of their comfort zones and made the plays we needed.”

Chelsea Vohs scored 10 points to lead Noxon to the win. Other individual scoring from the game was not available.

Against Charlo, coach Bret Thompson’s Lady Vikings controlled the flow of the game and ended up falling to the hometown girls.

“Charlo came out with a tough defense and got after it,” Vohs said. “We had girls contributing, we just couldn’t get our shots to fall.”

Avery Burgess scored 12 points to lead the Lady Devils, Emily Brown added four, Chelsea Vohs three and Vanessa Horner two.

Live Smith bucketed 18 points to pace Charlo, and Connor Fryberger and Carlee Fryberger added 12 points apiece.
