The Noxon Red Devil boys are pretty green this season but are progressing, getting a little bit better every time out.
Coach Ryan Weltz and Red Devils dropped a pair of District 14C conference games last week, falling 59-41 to Clark Fork in Superior Friday and 60-40 to Hot Springs in Noxon Saturday.
Weltz is not upset with his team, he just thinks they need more time to season and mature.
“Inexperience got us last week,” he said. “We turned the ball over way too much and our opponents were able to take advantage.
“The kids played hard,” he added, “we just made too many mistakes.”
The Devils have two boy/girl doubleheaders on tap this week in Noxon, hosting Troy teams Thursday and Plains squads Friday. Noxon teams are also scheduled to visit Thompson Falls for non-conference action next Tuesday.
Against Clark Fork, Rylan Weltz scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Devils, Aiden Galloway added 14 and Nate Cano and Michael Antonich two apiece.
Aaron Waddle and Carson Collison scored 14 points each for Clark Fork, Bryan Mask added 13, Orion Plaake 10 and Danner Haskins three.
“Clark Fork kind of lulled us to sleep,” Weltz said. “They run a methodical offense and managed to slowly pull away.
Weltz scored 29 points in Saturday’s game against Hot Springs, Galloway chipped in with seven and Brody Hill and Antonich two apiece.

Weltz sees another challenging week ahead. “Plains will definitely be tough, they have experienced players and can go down their bench,” he said. “And we always look forward to games with Thompson Falls. We will play hard and see what that gets us.”
