Trotters win as coach becomes a dad
It’s a girl, she was born early Monday morning, and she was 7 pounds, 6 ounces and 24.5 inches long at berth.
And her name is Tyler Wynne Fultz, the newest addition to the Plains Trotter basketball family.
Proud papa Eddie Fultz was still at Clark Fork Valley Hospital Monday morning tending to his wife Rheanna and his new baby girl, but took some time to talk basketball.
The coach of the Trotters, Fultz guided his team to two wins before the blessed event occurred last week, trouncing Two Eagle River 63-9 in Plains Thursday and outlasting Noxon 58-54 in overtime in Noxon Friday.
“We got a lot of kids playing time in the game with Two Eagle,” he said, “and had a very tough game in Noxon, there were an awful lot of fouls called in that game. It ended up being pretty much a free throw shooting contest.”
Indeed, before the game was over, a total of 78 free throws were shot. Noxon ended up connecting on 20 of 40 in the game and Plains 19 of 38.
The biggest shot of the game was not from the line however, as Plains freshman Kimmy Curry made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send it into overtime, where the Trotters finally pulled away. Curry finished with 27 points to lead Plains in the game, matching her career high.
Kaylah Standeford added 13 points, Kylee Altmiller 10, Miera Loberg and Celsey VonHeeder three apiece and Krystena Boes two.

The game with Two Eagle River was never close. Altmiller and Standeford each scored 19 points to lead Plains and Curry chimed in with 10 more.
The Trotters have an important home game with Charlo Thursday and will visit Troy Saturday in their only action this week.
“We are still improving and, after the way we played Hot Springs last week, I think we should be able to compete with Charlo better this time,” Fultz said, noting that the Vikings won the teams’ first encounter back in December.
Fultz is happy his home will soon be made up of three instead of just two.
“Rhe and I are very happy to welcome Tyler to the world,” he said, adding that her birthday should be an easy one for him to remember. “She is a 1-20-2020 baby, and my birthday is December 20, and my mom’s birthday is February 20.
“I don’t think we will have any trouble remembering Tyler’s birthday,” he said.
