These are the kind of games that build teams.
Coach Cortney Vohs and her Noxon Lady Red Devils scored an encouraging split in home games last week, running past Troy 50-22 Thursday, and then taking Plains into overtime before losing a wild 58-54 decision to the Trotters Friday.
Although she liked the win over Troy, Vohs was far happier with the loss to Plains.
“That was a very encouraging game for our girls, proving that we can play with a team like Plains,” she said. “That was our best game yet and something that we can build on from here on out.”
That here on out is pretty busy this week as the Lady Devils were to have visited Thompson Falls Tuesday (results were not available), will play at Clark Fork, Idaho, Friday and in Pablo versus Two Eagle River Saturday.
Lots of Lady Devil contributed in both games last week.
Against Plains, Avery Burgess put down 24 points while also pulling down seven rebounds, Vanessa Horner scored seven points and cleared a team-high 14 rebounds, Chelsea Vohs and Emily Brown had six points each, Izzy Lampshire and Jaedyn Murray four apiece, and Riley Richter three.
Brown had eight rebounds and Vohs and Lampshire four steals each.

Against Troy, Brown scored 13 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and five steals, Burgess had 10 points, 12 boards and three assists, and Vohs 10 points and four rebounds. Richter added nine points, Horner four, and Murray and Mia Vogel two apiece.
Horner also secured nine rebounds, and Richter five rebounds and three steals.
Elain Folkerts and Izzy Tunizon scored six points each for Troy.
