The Plains Paradise Senior Citizens Center has announced that with the addition of board members and a cook, the center will be able to continue its mission of serving as a focal point for senior services in the Plains Area.
According to board member Linda Bursell, a new head cook, Carol Sugarbaker, has been hired. The center is still looking for an assistant cook and a site manager.
The senior center also held elections and they have an active governing board. Sherryl Wachob was elected to serve as president and Nita Dyches vice president. The current secretary/treasurer is Judy Hulme, whose term will end in January 2021. The president and vice president serve for one-year terms, while the secretary/treasurer serves for two years. Newly elected board members Bursell and John Sheridan will serve until January 2022, and continuing board members Gary Baltz and Lynn McAtee’s terms will end January 2021.
Any person at least 50 years of age may become a member of the center. Annual dues are $5 per year, payable in January. Meals are served Wednesdays and Fridays beginning at 11:45 a.m. Home delivered meals are available within a 10-mile radius.
Bingo takes place after the meals on Wednesdays and Fridays. On Saturday, the center is open for pinochle and other games.
