Set to host Eureka Saturday
The Thompson Falls Lady Hawks are a very good volleyball team; evidently with or without the All-State Scarlette Schwindt in the lineup.
With Schwindt staying back home as a precautionary measure, the Lady Hawks went to Troy and blasted past the homestanding Lady Trojans 25-15, 25-12, 25-7.
“Scarlette is fine, she had a headache that day, so she stayed home,” coach Sandra Kazmierczak said. “But it was good to get some other girls into the rotation and everyone did great. We played a very strong match in Troy.”
The other All-State netter for the Lady Hawks, Jody Detlaff again made her presence felt in a big way with a team-high nine kills, three blocks and a service ace to lead Thompson Falls.
Dannijo VanHuss added seven kills, Riley Wilson four and Cheyla Irvine four, Wilson and Elli Pardee shared the setting duties, putting up 13 and 12 each, respectively, Ariana Wood collected eight digs and Irvine hit another ace.
Kazmierczak said the Hawks are looking forward to this week’s matches against Plains (Tuesday after press time), at Charlo Thursday and versus Eureka in Thompson Falls Saturday.
The Hawks are itching to get back at it after last Thursday’s match with Bigfork (which has been rescheduled for October 24) was cancelled.
“It will be nice to have three matches this week, we need to get back on the court,” she said. “Charlo is one of the best teams in the area and Eureka is an important conference match, we are looking forward to playing these teams.”
