Plains police seek help in locating suspect

Plains Police Department is asking for help locating a man wanted in connection with an incident earlier this week.

Mithcell Bear Raymond, 25, is wanted for several outstanding warrants and for questioning regarding a rise of recent thefts in the area, according to Plains Police. After a routine traffic stop in Plains on November 14, a pursuit ensued that traveled up Upper Lynch Creek Road with speeds reaching 90 miles an hour. The chase ended off Little Thompson River Road, as the occupants tried to escape on foot. Plains officers, with assistance from Montana Fish by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, Montana Highway Patrol and Sanders County Sheriff's Office, ended the chase. Officers were able to apprehend the passenger, but the driver escaped, Plains Police reported.

Plains Chief of Police Shawn Emmett said have been at least nin burglaries in the Plains area since Halloween, with the suspects targeting vehicles, mailboxes and storage units. Hundreds of items were taken through unlocked doors, broken windows or by padlocks being cut, Emmett stated.
