Blue Hawks land 5 on 8-Man All-State squad

Six Sanders County football players have earned All-State recognition for their fine play in Montana 8-Man action this past fall as the Western Conference 8-Man All-Conference team was named early this week.

From Thompson Falls, which finished the season 10-1 after falling to Scobey/Opheim in the 8-Man quarterfinal round after an unbeaten regular season, five players earned All-State honors and a total of nine were named All-Conference.

Falls seniors Kade Pardee, Roman Sparks, Cody Burk and Lucas Andersen, and junior Trae Thilmony earned All-Conference and All-State honors, and seniors Dane Chojnacky, Will McPherson, Derek Andersen and junior Nathan Schraeder were named All-Conference.

Pardee was named first team All-Conference running back and defensive back, Sparks first team quarterback and second team d-back (in addition to second team recognition for his fine punt returning), Burk first team offensive and defensive line, Andersen first team tight end and linebacker and Thilmony first team inside linebacker and second team slot back.

Chojnacky was selected as a first team defensive lineman, McPherson first team center and Derek Andersen second team outside linebacker. Schraeder was named second team placekicker in spite of the fact that he missed much of the season due to an injury.

From Plains, seniors Tucker Foster and Gavin Regalado were honored.

Foster, who has accepted a scholarship offer to play football for Montana-Western in Dillon, earned first team All-Conference nods at defensive end and tight end, and was the only Horsemen player named All-State.

Regalado was named second team running back.

Flint Creek, which won the State 8-Man championship this fall (defeating Scobey/Opheim 44-6 in the chipper), led the All-Conference team with six All-State picks, three of which were added in due to how far Western Conference teams advanced in the playoffs.

The All-Conference and All-State teams were selected following the regular season by league coaches.
