Our Viewpoint

Let's all just take a deep breath

We have lived through so many uncertainties this year. At the beginning of 2020, there were murmurs of a new virus. Within a matter of weeks, the country was basically shut down.

Then it was election season. Though we figured it would be a few days before we had results, we never imagined it would turn into this.

Fast forward to December 2020. Here we are, businesses still open, schools still in session, the country still moving forward. This week, the first Americans will receive the COVID-19 vaccine. It will be months before the vaccine is distributed to the general public. For now, the front line healthcare workers and others first in line for the vaccine can be hopeful that the spread will slow and they can have a bit of relief.

Monday, the Electoral College cast their votes confirming Joe Biden as our next U.S. President. No matter how you voted, there is relief in having an answer and knowing that the uncertainty has passed.

Perhaps now, with vaccines being distributed and a president chosen, our country can begin to heal and move forward.
