Trotters get well quick, win 2

Now that’s more like it.

Struggling to this point, the Plains Trotters put together their two best efforts of the season last week, working past Hot Springs 44-32 in Plains Thursday and then running past St. Regis 58-30 in St. Regis Friday.

Suddenly on a two-game winning streak, coach Eddie Fultz and his 2-4 Trotters have a game with unbeaten Charlo in Charlo Friday in their only scheduled action this week. Fultz said last week’s games were a welcome relief.

“We finally played like I feel like we are capable of playing,” he said. “Our shots were falling, we were forcing some turnovers and rebounding better, all in all a pretty good weekend.”

The game with Hot Springs was impacted by the Heat’s loss of their star player Katelyn Christensen who injured a knee and left the game in the first half. The Trotters were able to take advantage of the situation and move to the win.

Kimmy Curry led the Trotters to the win with 12 points, Carlie Wagoner added nine, Celsey VonHeeder eight, Kaylah Standeford seven, Krystena Boes four and Rylee Ganarelli and Kaylee Cole one apiece.

At St. Regis Saturday, the Trotters enjoyed their finest outing of the season and registered the feel-good win as a result.

“We played some good basketball in St. Regis and that was nice to see,” Fultz said. “Some of St. Regis’s best players got into early foul trouble and that helped us take control early.”

Curry canned 19 points to lead Plains, Standeford and Boes added 11 each, Wagoner seven, Genevieve Deschamps five, and Grace Horton and VonHeeder two apiece.
