Nobody has beaten the Charlo Lady Vikings yet but the Noxon Lady Red Devils gave them a good run Saturday.
Coach Cortney Vohs and her Lady Devils played the unbeaten, District 14C-leading Vikings twice last week, falling 40-17 in Noxon Tuesday and then scoring a season-high 41 points on the Vikings in a 59-41 loss at Charlo Saturday.
“We were able to score on them about as well as anyone has this season,” she said. The Red Devils outscored Charlo 23-18 in the second half, but a 39-18 deficit at halftime was too much to overcome.
Avery Burgess led Noxon with 12 points, seven rebounds, five blocked shots, three steals and three assists, Emily Brown was good for 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals, Riley Richter added eight points, Chelsea Vohs five points and four rebounds, Vanessa Horner four points and Mia Vogel and Dylan Vigil one point each.
Connor Fryberger led Charlo with 15 points, Live Smith added 12 and Carlee Fryberger and Kassidi cox eight points apiece.
In Charlo Tuesday, Burgess led the Devils with eight points, Brown scored eight, Richter two and Jaedyn Murray one. Burgess again had five blocked shots and also added nine rebounds and two steals, Richter cleared five rebounds and Brown had a steal.
Connor Fryberger scored 11 for Charlo, Carlee Fryberger nine and Mila Hawk eight.
Vohs and the Devils have two more District 14C conference games this week, visiting St. Regis Friday and hosting Plains Saturday.
“We look forward to playing someone besides Charlo,” Vohs joked, “and hope to play well against St. Regis and Plains.”
