Noxon girls make semifinals

The Noxon Lady Red Devils made it to the semifinals of the remotely-played District 14C tournament last week before bowing out and completing play for the season.

Starting with a 44-27 win over Hot Springs in Noxon Tuesday, the Devils then fell 36-28 to Clark Fork in Superior Thursday and finally lost 38-35 to St. Regis in a loser-out contest in Noxon Friday.

Coach Cortney Vohs was proud of her team all said and done. “The girls learned to play well together and learned how to rebound and defend better as the season went on,” she said. “We weren’t quite connecting last week like I would have liked, but this team played very hard and left everything out there on the floor.”

Vohs cited the play of Avery Burgess, Emily Brown and Riley Richter in particular. “Those three developed into our most reliable rebounders,” she said.

Against Hot Springs, Brown scored 13 points to lead Noxon, Burgess added 11, Jaedyn Murray six, Chelsea Vohs and Vanessa Horner four each, and Richter, Mia Vogel and Dylan Vigel two apiece.

Versus Clark Fork, Horner scored 11, Vohs eight, Vigel three and Richter, Murray and Brown two apiece.

Darby Haskins led Clark Fork with 14 points.

Back on court against St. Regis Friday, Burgess netted 10 points to lead the Lady Devils, Chelsea Vohs added eight, Murray and Brown six apiece, Richter and Horner two each and Vigel one.

Baylee Pruitt scored 18 points and Macy Hill eight for St. Regis.
