PBS to feature local man who died of COVID-19

As many have passed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, there are several groups and news outlets striving to recognize those who have died.

Bob Green of Trout Creek, who passed in October 2020 from the illness, is being featured on the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) NewsHour as part of its “honoring those who have died from COVID-19 too soon,” series. Every week, the program tells the stories of five people who have passed. Sandy Green, Bob’s wife, said that their daughter in Boston called in to PBS to submit Bob’s information.

Bob retired from the Navy and was part of the Explosive Ordinance Division. He and Sandy moved to Trout Creek in 1990. He was involved with the Trout Creek community and made numerous efforts to contribute to the area. He was on the Trout Creek Community Improvement Association (TCCIA) board and was the park caretaker for 13 years. Sandy said that the park looks the way it does because of her husband’s tireless efforts.

TCCIA is planning on putting in a playground and honoring Bob by naming it the “Bob Green Memorial Playground.”

The feature will run on PBS during the PBS NewsHour at 4:25 p.m. MST this Friday, April 16.
