Utility assistance applications available Oct. 1

As fall settles in and cooler temperatures come to northwest Montana, Community Action Partnership of Northwest Montana (CAPNM) is preparing for the 2021/22 LIEAP heating assistance program.

CAPNM will begin accepting applications for the Low Income Home Water Assistance Program on October 1. Applications are available online at http://www.capnm.net or by calling (406) 758-5433. New this year is the Low Income Home Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP). The program is intended to help pay a portion of a home’s water and or sewer and wastewater bill, including arrearages. The program will not pay for repairs. LIEAP is intended to help pay a portion of a household’s winter heating costs. According to CAPNM, if the applicant's main heat source is included in their rent, even if rent is subsidized, they may still qualify for a modified benefit.
