Poelker joins Ledger staff

Max Poelker has joined The Ledger staff as a sports reporter.

Poelker grew up in the corn fields of central Illinois playing basketball, football, baseball and golf. He is new to Montana and Sanders County but notices some similarities to his days in Illinois.

"My high school had 86 students and our town had one stop light," Poelker said. "We were about as tight knit of a community as you could imagine. Everyone knew everyone and it truly felt like one big family. It's been great to find similar qualities here in Sanders County."

Poelker is thrilled to have the opportunity to pursue his dream as a sports writer. "This is something I've dreamt about since I was a child watching Sportscenter," he said. "What a blessing it is to be able to fulfill that dream and have the opportunity to report on all of the amazing sports stories here in Sanders County."

Residents can expect to see Poelker at sporting events across Sanders County.

"Max has a great attitude and a lot of enthusiam, as well as a passion for sports," said Ledger publisher Annie Wooden. "I'm excited that he's part of our team.
