With a 2-0 record in their conference, the Lady Hawks are really soaring. Their game with Arlee Tuesday Sept. 21 ended quickly in three as did their match against Mission last Thursday. "Things are going well," said coach Sandra Kazmierczak. "They play with a lot of excitement and with a lot of passion."
Kazmierczak explained that their forward momentum lies in the whole team. "It takes every kid," she said. However, one element to their success lies in their reintroduction of Scarlette Schwindt. "She's back to her full self. She's an all-around player, a good leader and she loves the game," said Kazmierczak. Schwindt was credited for the most kills in both the Arlee and Mission matches, the most aces at Mission and the most digs against Arlee. Kazmierczak added that they count their digs different in Thompson Falls, explaining that theyonly count when it is received from a spike, making their numbers far lower and harder to achieve. "It's great to have her back," said Kazmierczak.
Ellison Pardee also made an impressive five digs against Mission, leading the team in that match. She also led the team in both matches in set assists, earning 11 against Arlee and tying with Schwindt in Mission with six each. Abbi Lane made three blocks in both games.
Thompson Falls will go on to face two teams in their conference this week, and Kazmierczak explained that they are excited. "They can't wait for their matches," said the coach about her player's spirits. With an overall record this season of 6-2, Kazmierczak assured that they have a lot to be excited about. The Blue Hawks were set to host Troy on Tuesday (results were not available at press time) and will travel to Bigfork on Saturday.
