Discouraging action by county

Editor,

It is very discouraging that our commissioners asked Nick Lawyer to resign from the county health committee.

The commissioners seemed to kow-tow to a group advocating an irrational approach to COVID.

Lawyer was rational in his advocacy of approaching the COVID epidemic in our county.

Mr. Lawyer merely presented the position of reasonable medical experts and their organizations.

On this topic – COVID epidemic – I have had input from a M.D. in Silver Bow County, 1 M.D.S. in Ohio and epidemiologist in Arizona and an M.D. in our county. Each advocates the same things Lawyer did.

But the County Health Board let the meeting get out of hand and the commissioners did not stand forth and advocate a medically sound approach to combatting the epidemic. Instead they backed away. The health Sanders County residents should have prevailed.

The commissioners action to ask Lawyer to resign only serves to make the same group of citizens more likely to take an identical action on even more issues.
