With the first snowflakes falling on the area, the Thompson Falls community is preparing for its annual Christmas on Main Street event.
The theme for this year’s event, scheduled for December 2-4, is “Christmas is Coming.” The Thompson Falls Chamber of Commerce will present the Holiday Stroll 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, December 2. Businesses will be open offering goodies and specials, and carolers will be singing up and down Main Street. Craft stations will be set up at First Baptist Church, The Ledger and Rex Community Theather, and at 6 p.m. the community is invited to the city’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Ainsworth Park. Thompson Falls Main Street is sponsoring a window decorating contest, with judging taking place during the holiday stroll.
The Chamber also is sponsoring a coloring contest for all ages. Chamber board member Andrea Christensen created a coloring page to go with this year’s “Christmas is Coming” theme. The coloring pages will be distributed to Thompson Falls schools, as well as available at The Ledger. Completed pages must be dropped off at The Ledger by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1. Prizes will be awarded in the following age categories: 0-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20 and 21 and over.
Next Saturday, the Christmas Bazaar will be 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Thompson Falls High School gym. Dozens of vendors will be at the event, which benefits the Sheriff’s Relief Fund. After, community members are invited to gather along Main Street for the annual parade. The Men’s Prayer Breakfast group will offer free cocoa and hot dogs in the First Security Bank parking lot along Main Street beginning at 5:30 p.m. on December 4, with the parade beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the parade grand marshal. Nominations must be submitted by Monday, November 29, to [email protected], or call (406) 827-4930.
Following the parade, Rex Community Theater will once again host the Christmas on Main Street After Party, featuring local talent and live music.
Sanders County Historical Society is gearing up for their annual gingerbread contest at the Old Jail Museum. Get in the holiday spirit with your edible creations. Entries must be delivered to the museum between 10 a.m. and noon on Saturday, December 4.
