Trotters edge by Hawks

The Plains-Hot Springs Trotters beat the Thompson Falls-Noxon Blue Hawks last Tuesday in Plains during the first softball action of the season for the Sanders County teams. The Blue Hawks led the whole game and were ahead 8-5 at the end of the sixth inning. The Trotters took control in the seventh and scored four runs while the Blue Hawks went scoreless as Plains went on to win 9-8. Plains Senior Celsey VonHeeder pitched the whole game for the Trotters and held the Blue Hawks to a batting average of .286 while the Trotters hit .333 as a team.

"Plains is much improved from last year and I have a feeling we will have many close battles this year," said Blue Hawk coach Jared Koskela. "VonHeeder is a great pitcher and didn't register a walk so we had to earn our way on base. A series of unfortunate events happened late in the game that cost us a walkoff. We will only get better and learn from that." Thompson Falls pitcher, junior Cheyla Irvine walked three batters in the game.

The Blue Hawks will meet the Trotters again in Thompson Falls on Monday, April 25.
