NAME: Doug Dryden

EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science Degree-WSU

OCCUPATION: Sanders County Justice of the Peace since 2017

What qualities make you the best candidate for this position? As Justice of the Peace, I’ve completed 240 hours of Judicial training and passed the required Judicial exam twice. During my 26 year Montana law enforcement career, I completed 1,600+ hours of criminal justice training and testified in Justice Court, District Court and Federal Court. As a Judge, I look at the nature and circumstances of a crime and the criminal statutes found in the Montana Code. I sentence individuals based upon the law and what is best for the person and our communities. I apply Montana Civil Law with common sense in lawsuits that are adjudicated in my Court.

OCCUPATION: Court Clerk for the Sanders County Justice Court

What qualities make you the best candidate for this position? After 21 years in the Air Force, I feel some of my most prominent qualities are integrity, my ability to serve others, and that I strive for excellence in all that I do. Impartiality, equality, and consistency are also important qualities to have as a Judge, and I believe I currently carry these qualities as a Court Clerk. If elected as Justice of the Peace, the foundation of my rulings will be based on these qualities. Rulings will be consistent across the board, ensuring equality for everyone.
