Trotters, Hawks, finish season in Plains
When two teams meet, there has to be a winner and there has to be a loser. The Thompson Falls-Noxon Blue Hawks and the Plains-Hot Springs Trotters entered the Western B Divisional Tournament on the same side of the bracket last weekend. Opening round losses for both teams set the county rivals up to face off Friday in a loser-out match in which there could only be one winner.
The Trotters opened the divisional tournament against Manhattan, falling 12-10.
The Hawks met Florence-Carlton in the opening round of the tournament on Thursday, suffering a 15-0 shutout from the Lady Flacons.
So there the two teams were Friday morning in the rain, working to extend their softball seasons. In the end, Plains came away with a 16-4 victory over Thompson Falls. From there, the Trotters needed to win just one more game to make it to the state tournament. Plains-Hot Springs faced off against Ennis Friday afternoon and their season came to an end in a 14-4 loss.
