Independently owned since 1905
A favorite annual summer event is being forced to cancel this year. The 2022 Chicken Jamboree, put on by the Christian Men’s Prayer Group, has been canceled due to location issues.
The event normally is held at the NorthWestern Energy Power Park. The building at the park was destroyed last year, and the new building is not going to be finished in time for the jamboree. “We want to thank NorthWestern Energy for providing a new building and the park that the community enjoys so much,” the Men’s Prayer Group said in a statement. “The Chicken Jamboree is a wonderful event for the entire community with free food, music, games and entertainment for the children and a fun day for the entire family. We are sorry to disappoint so many people in the community, but the construction at the Power Park will not be completed in time.”
The Men’s Prayer Group has been hosting the Chicken Jamboree for 40 years. The group is a non-denominational nonprofit group that works together to serve God by serving the community. The group also provides free hot dogs, chili and hot cocoa during the Christmas on Main Street event in Thompson Falls.
Donations to the Christian Men’s Prayer Group are used for those events, as well as the Helping Hands program, scholarships for students and other efforts. The group said it does plan to hold the Chicken Jamboree in 2023. For more information on the Men’s Prayer Group, contact Don Burrell at (406) 827-4723 or (406) 544-5160.
