Who is Mahlon Lee?

Here is just one of his many stories.

While on a service mission in Guiana, South America, he found people trying to grow corn with very little success. He taught them in order for the corn to pollinate; they had to plant in rows, close together; not in hills 6 feet apart. Then because of the monsoon season, they needed to plant the corn in raised rows. With Mahlon’s mentoring, they now had a 120-acre corn field about 6 foot tall and entering the tassel stage. But then they were faced with perhaps the toughest challenge. The Government of Guiana did not want to see any of its people become too successful. If a business was prospering, they would send someone in to burn it down. Their corn crop success was a threat to the government. Under the cover of darkness, people came in one night with back packs of poison and sprayed all around the outside of the crop. As the owners continued to fertilize and care for their remaining corn crop; they discovered that poison had been added to their fertilizer tank. These good, hardworking people were unknowingly spraying their own corn with poison; killing all their hope of a corn crop. Was it time to quit and give up? No! Mahlon came up with a new plan. He taught the people to plant their own small garden-sized plots of corn in many different locations. This did not attract the attention of the government and it was much harder to destroy so many smaller fields.

Mahlon is experienced in managing his own very small budget and growing it into a successful multimillion dollar business. He has a passion for helping others learn to be free and self-reliant by using and managing wisely what they already have. He knows how to deal with challenging problems, work with people, and stand for principles of freedom.

He wants to serve the people of Sanders County as Commissioner of District 2.
