Hannum fifth at CMR Classic

The Thompson Falls/Noxon wrestling team traveled to Great Falls last weekend to compete in the CMR Holiday Wrestling Classic. “With 55 teams competing, it’s one of the toughest matches in the state,” said Coach Mike Thilmony. Thompson Falls placed 35th this year.

Max Hannum placed fifth in the 170-pound weight class. He lost in the championship round and then came back to win in the consolation rounds, winning seven out of nine matches. He competed in round six, the blood round, to place. “I’m proud of his effort and his fight. It’s tough to lose and come back,” said Thilmony.

In the 152-pound weight class, Noah Stevens won two rounds and lost two rounds. Thilmony shared that for being a freshman, he competed hard. Stevens competed in the JV meet on Saturday where he took second place.

Diego Long competed in the 126-pound weight class and won one match and lost two. He also competed in the JV meet on Saturday. Westin Brown competed in the 132-pound weight class winning one out of two matches and competed in the JV meet. Brock Ryan wrestled in the 138-pound weight class falling in both of his matches but continued on, competing in the JV meet as well.

For the girls, Jaden Bewick and Desani Bewick competed in the 100-pound weight class. Jaden won one out of four matches and Desani fell to her opponents in her matches.

“Overall it went well and I’m proud that just about everyone won a match,” said Thilmony.
