Noxon matched up against Two Eagle River on Friday in Pablo. The Lady Red Devils were victorious at 60-30. In the first quarter they were up 24-6 and at the half 41-14. Two Eagle River made 11 points to Noxon’s nine in the third quarter. “We finished the game with four players,” said Coach Cortney Vohs.
Noxon had a total of 41 rebounds,17 assists and 16 steals. Emily Brown shot 27 points, Seanna Richter scored 18 points, Maygan Swanson racked up 10 points, Calie Cano three and Aubrey Erwin hooped two points.
It was a good match-up for the boys; the first half Two Eagle pounced the Red Devils 36-18. Noxon got charged up and won the second half 41-32 but it wasn't enough for the final upshot ending 68-59. Coach Mike Benson said that they played a really good second half but had dug themselves in too deep in the first half.
The team made 47% of their free throws. Ricky Williams shot 18 points and rebounded seven, Shane Murray scored 16 points with 11 rebounds, Justice Kaiser racked up ten points, Sam Christensen hooped six, Aiden Curry five and six rebounds, Brian Risch scored one point and grabbed six rebounds and Ian Brown scored one point.
The Lady Red Devils knocked Alberton’s shoes off in Saturday's game, winning 56-11. Brown hooped 30 points, Erwin made eight, Cano and Richter shot five points each, Swanson racked up four points and Emma Swanson and Abby Yoder both scored two points each.
“The games over the weekend were great wins for us. We ended our season on a high note getting ready to head into tournaments. We have been working on everyone building confidence and participating on offense, so these past games really helped with that,” said Vohs.
The Noxon boys started out neck and neck with the Alberton Panthers 11-9, then hooped away in the second and third quarters to drive home a 57-44 win. Kaiser scored 12 points, Murray hooped 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds, Williams scored nine and rebounded nine, Risch racked up eight points, Curry hooped six points and rebounded seven and Zach Storaasli made seven rebounds.
Noxon finished the regular season Tuesday in Troy (results were not available by press time) and will be playing in the District 14-C tournament next weekend in Polson.
