Celebrating our community heroes

There are many people in Sanders County who do a lot for others and never ask for any recognition. It's time to start recognizing those people.

Let's start with Angie Lowe of Thompson Falls. I went to school with Angie and have known her most of my life. One of the things I most appreicate about her is how she is true to herself. I also really appreciate that she is direct and you never have to wonder what she's thinking. She's one of the hardest working people I've ever met, and this year will celebrate 23 years with the Town Pump corporation.

I've never heard Angie complain. She finds out what needs to be done and does it. She's also a fantastic supporter of the community. If there's a fundraiser or if someone is in need, she's often one of the first people to step up and volunteer or even organize the event.

"She is one of the best people," said Sarah Ball with the Clark Fork Valley Elks Lodge, where many community events are held. Ball has had the pleasure of working with Angie on several community efforts. "Whenever we have a fundraiser or a silent auction or anything like that, she does a great job at organizing. She works so well with everyone. She always has something positive to say and a smile on her face."

Angie's daughter Karissa has similar qualities and is often right there with her mom helping in the community. I appreciate that Angie is passing on her community spirit and her strong work ethic to the next generation.

Our small communities thrive because of people like Angie who give of themselves and never expect anything in return. They do so because they care.

So thanks, Angie, for beng such a great community supporter. You are appreciated.
