P-HS finishes inaugural season

Last week marked the end of the season but a start for a new tradition in Plains sports. It was the first time the Plains Horsemen has had a baseball team and it was a huge success with a lot of support from parents, the community and the school. Coach Rick Powers said if the parents want to keep it going, he’s in for the next season.

The team played three games last week. The first was a 10-0 loss against Florence. Then the team came back for a 13-3 victory against Mission and ended the season with a 4-4 tie against Columbia Falls at the SAPA - Johnson Tournament in Columbia Falls.

The Horsemen ended with a 6-6 and one tie record for the season. “Overall the season turned out well for the amount of time we had,” said Powers. He said that with six athletes who had never played before and four kids that had, there was a lot of learning this time around.
