TF students end year with field day

It was a fun-filled day for Thompson Falls elementary students (K-6) as teachers, staff, students and family members gathered together at the high school track for the day's activities. "We had a great event, thanks to the help from all staff and students," said Elementary Physical Education teacher Karli Thomas.

The kids partook in a variety of running events throughout the day: the 50m dash, 50m hurdles, 100m dash, 100m hurdles and the 200m dash. The field events included: the softball throw, turbo javelin throw and the long jump. The class activities and games the kids could participate in were: the parachute, link tag, hula hoop, showdown and tug-o-war.

Elementary Principal Len Dorscher said it was a fun day. "It's one of my most favorite days of the year," he told school board members at Monday's meeting. "It's cool parents get to come out and see that."

Thomas said that the seventh grade students helped her run all of the events and "Thanks to Head Track Coach Trenna Ferris, our elementary students also got to watch some of our High School athletes in action! Chesney Lowe demonstrated the pole vault, Braedon Ferris demonstrated the discus, and Trinity Riffle the high jump."
