Flower essences and healing energy

From the beginning of our existence flowers have captivated and healed us in one way or another. They were on this planet before we were. They have energy that radiates out to us. Why? Many theories are there to add understanding of their charm. But whatever any of us believes, the fact is that flowers have power. Just as herbs are used for cooking and healing, flowers are used to soothe the soul, brighten a day, or heal emotional and physical pain. And often they are used for cooking. But the essence of a flower can be extracted and used internally for all those reasons mentioned. For example, the feverfew flower has the ability to reduce the onset of, and stop migraines. Borage flowers ease sorrow and hopelessness. Red clover flowers help with anxiety. Dandelion’s flowers allow strength and well being to emerge within us. The leaves are edible and the roots detoxify the body.

Some people who promote the use of flower essences suggest that finding plants in the wild that have struggled to survive might be stronger in their power than pampered flowers in a garden. Though this could very likely be true, I believe the flowers that show up in full force in spring or summer are those that we are needing the most. It has been said that plants grow where they are needed. For instance, if plantain is abundant it might be that there will be several stinging or biting insects around that season. It also is an anti-inflammatory and heals wounds, itching, burns, and aids in pain relief. Used as a base in salves, it has many benefits. Amazingly, the flower essence of plantain may release mental blocks and cast away negativity. I use it a lot!

The yellow flowered, red leafed, wood sorrel also known as oxalis stricta, is growing aggressively this summer. Its flower helps us with feelings of insignificance and powerlessness when made into an essence. It helps us to see our own lightness and beauty. The plant is also rich in vitamin c and is acidic. It aids with healing sore throats, nausea, and urinary infections, but is not good for kidney issues or gout.

The beauty of flower essences is that they will not dilute. The strength and intentions are in a single drop. If that drop is placed in an 8 ounce glass of water or a 20 ounce water bottle, it is still there in full force. Many people choose to place drops under the tongue. That works too. Our bodies are amazing machines that work off of energy. If an essence is no longer needed then we will not be compelled to take it. Our bodies know this and send signals to our brains. Flower essences can be used externally as well. Mist them around the room or on yourself, use on pulse points, mixed in creams, or added to baths.

The art of natural healing is becoming more popular especially with the rise in medication costs and side effects. A pain or ailment often goes much deeper than what the exposed condition reveals. That is why energy healing is so powerful. Hands-off healing through Reiki is one way of using our own body’s internal energy source to bring about healing. Adding flower essences and natural plant based oils aids in the Reiki experience.

Whether it be with Reiki energy healing, flower essences, or both, becoming aware of what is going on in one's own body can make a huge difference. Recovery with medications or medical procedures can be enhanced by the use of energy healing. Surgery can leave us feeling nervous and exhausted. Flowers are often given during recovery. They cheer us up. Flower essences and good energy flow can also help with long term healing inside and out.
