Hawks finish fourth at divisional

The Thompson Falls Lady Hawks and Plains Trotters traveled to Eureka for the class B divisional tournament. Though neither team earned a bid to state, the Hawks finished fourth in the division.

The first match was between the Plains Trotters and the Florence Falcons. Quickly in the first set the Falcons came talons out gaining the lead. Although the Trotters tried to catch up, it would be Florence who would take the first set. The Trotters seemed to have lost their steam in the second set, getting stopped by the Falcons at seven points for a Florence second set win. Plains came back in the third with something to prove. They weren't going down without a better fight, going point for point until once again Florence pulled ahead for a Falcon win.

The Lady Hawks faced the Loyola Heart Breakers at the net falling in three sets 16-25, 19-25, 19-25.

In the first set Loyola came out quickly taking the lead, while Thompson was able to keep close behind. After intense volleys, it would be the Breakers who would keep the lead earning the set win. In the second set Loyola would take the serving lead, making the Lady Hawks work to catch up. Holding the Breakers at 22, Thompson was able to catch up but ultimately it would be Loyola who would take the second set win. Going into the third set the Lady Hawks had new focus, keeping the points close. The Lady Hawks would hold the Breakers at 23 until Loyola was able to earn the last two points gaining the match win.

Addi Pardee led the Lady Hawks with three aces, Olivia Fitchett set up 18 set assists and 10 digs. Gabi Hannum spiked down 11 kills for Thompson, with Sarah Koskela, Addy Deal, and Pardee behind her with three each. Deal was able to block three blocks for the Lady Hawks.

In the next day's competition it would be county rivals facing off once again in a loser out match as the Lady Hawks took on the Trotters earning the win in three 25-10, 25-13, 25-15.

The Lady Hawks came out on fire for day two, quickly shutting down the Trotters by taking the first set win. The Trotters entered set two with momentum until Thompson was able to keep the serving lead, earning the second set win. Both teams brought the volleys for the last match, until once again at 15 points the Lady Hawks were able to take the lead earning the match win.

Pardee led again with four aces, while Fitchett was behind her with three. Fitchett set up an extraordinary 29 set assists, helping Hannum hammer down 11 kills for the Lady Hawks. Koskela came in close behind with seven, Pardee rounding out the teams 32 kills with six of her own.

The Lady Hawks would move on to see the Anaconda Copperheads earning the win in four sets, 25-16, 18-25, 25-20, 25-23.

Swiftly the Lady Hawks were able to take a steady lead against Anaconda earning the first set win. In the second it would be the Copperheads who would first put points on the board, but Thompson would shut out Anaconda putting them ahead. Tying the game, it would be the Copperheads filled with new venom who would take the lead shutting out the Lady Hawks for the second set win. Going into the third both teams knew the stakes, going point for point, volley for volley, no team going more than two points ahead. That is, until the Lady Hawks were able to shut out Anaconda earning the third set win. Going into the fourth, the Copperheads would take a four point lead over Thompson, keeping the lead until the Lady Hawks caught up tying the set at 14. It would go back to point for point until Addy Deal helped keep the serving lead for Thompson earning the match win.

Pardee served up five aces for the Lady Hawks, with Deal behind her at three. Fitchett set up an astonishing 31 set assists, Annalise Fairbank set up six for Thompson. Hannum got 13 out of the teams stunning 36 kills, Koskela close behind with nine, Pardee and Deal each earning six.

In their third game of the day the Lady Hawks would face the Deer Lodge Wardens falling in four sets, 25-19, 21-25, 22-25, 20-25.

Coming off their win the Lady Hawks would take the lead in the first set, while the Wardens came back tying up the game. It would be Thompson who would get the set win. Going into the second it would be Deer Lodge who swiftly took the lead, and the Lady Hawks would catch up shutting out the Wardens until Deer Lodge came back hot taking the lead and the set win. It was the third set, both teams going neck and neck, with the Lady Hawks pulling ahead, when the Wardens found their groove to pull ahead of Thompson earning the set win. The Lady Hawks and Wardens would go point for point in the fourth all the way until both teams reached 20 points. Only then would Deer Lodge shut out Thompson for the match win.

The Hawks finished the season with 13 wins and 11 losses.
