Solid victories in teams' first action

HOT SPRINGS 53, VICTOR 15

The Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat traveled to kick off the Hamilton tip-off against the Victor Lady Pirates, taking the win 53-15.

Hot Springs came out on fire, putting the pressure on the Lady Pirates by taking the lead quickly in the first half. The Lady Savage Heat kept their tight knit defense, holding Victor to minimal scoring. Going into halftime Hot Springs was up 22 points.

Coming back from the half Hot Springs was able to keep their double digit lead, putting pressure on the Lady Pirates. The Lady Savage Heat were able to keep their massive lead going into the final quarter, keeping Victor scoreless. The full court pressure Victor kept on Hot Springs was no match for the powerhouse team, leading to the first Lady Savage Heat victory of the season.

Kara Christensen led Hot Springs with 15 points, Brooke Jackson close behind with 14 points, and senior Lauryn Aldridge rounding it out with 13 points. Jackson proved her quick hands getting seven rebounds for the Lady Savage Heat, Aldridge coming in with six.

HOT SPRINGS 45, VALLEY CHRISTIAN 26

Hot Springs went on to face the Valley Christian Lady Eagles taking their second win 45-26.

The Lady Savage Heat came out earning the first points on the scoreboard. Valley Christian was quick to put their own points on the board, taking the lead going into the second quarter. Within minutes of the second quarter Hot Springs took the lead, and the powerhouse Lady Savage Heat defense was able to keep the Lady Eagles scoreless going into halftime with a score of 19-11.

In the third quarter Valley Christian was able to get the first basket, and then a foul put sophomore Kara Christensen at the free throw line. Christensen was able to put two points on the board for Hot Springs. Fighting through the aggressive full court defense of the Lady Savage Heat, the Lady Eagles were able to score another basket. Hot Springs would keep Valley Christian to minimal scoring for the rest of the third quarter, keeping the lead 29-21 going into the fourth.

Hot Springs would come into the fourth on fire, being the first to put more points on the board. Keeping the tense defense on the Lady Eagles, it would be halfway through the quarter before Valley Christian would earn their last points ending with a Hot Springs win.

Christensen led with an impressive 17 points for the Lady Savage Heat, Brooke Jackson and Lauryn Alridge getting eight points each. Callie Cano proved her swift hands earning her four steals for Hot Springs, Christensen and Jackson close behind her with two each.

The Lady Savage Heat suit up at home this Friday to take on Phillipsburg starting at 5:30.

PLAINS 27, VALLEY CHRISTIAN 17

The Trotters took to the court in Hamilton, first taking on the Valley Christian Lady Eagles and securing the win 27-17.

While the Trotters won the tip-off, it would be the Lady Eagles who would put the first points on the scoreboard. Plains would answer back, taking and keeping the lead in the first half.

Coming back from the half, the powerhouse Trotter defense was able to keep Valley Christian to minimal scoring. The Lady Eagles were also able to keep Plains at bay in the second half.

Junior Lexi Demming led the Trotters with an impressive 10 of their 27 points. Aubree Butcher, Trystan Larsen and Blakely Lakko each earned four points for Plains. Mila Rivinius and Ava Lawyer each got three.

PLAINS 42, ARLEE 27

Plains then stepped on the court to face the Arlee Lady Warriors, taking the win 42-27.

The Trotters put the first points on the scoreboard, quickly taking the lead in the first quarter. Plains was able to keep the lead going into the second quarter. With only two minutes left the Alree defense was no match for the quick footed Trotters who took a swift 17-point lead going into halftime.

Coming back from the half the Lady Warriors were able to keep the Trotters to minimal baskets, putting the score at 32-17 going into the fourth quarter. Both teams brought the heat for the final quarter, but the Trotters were able to keep fast passing and nimble footwork to take the win.

Lakko led Plains with 11 points, Larsen behind her with 10, Demming rounding the top three with eight. Butcher came in hot with four, and Amy Hill and Ava Lawyer each got three.

The Trotters hit the road again this week, going face to face with Whitefish on December 4, then they see Two Eagle River on Tuesday December 5.

ARLEE 31, NOXON 20

The Noxon Lady Red Devils also took on to the Hamilton tip off tournament first falling to the Arlee Lady

Warriors 20-31.

Out of the team’s 28 rebounds, Seanna Richter led with eight. Richter also led the Lady Red Devils with four assists. Emma Swanson came in hot handed with six of Noxon’s 18 steals. Senior Maygan Swanson led in points with 10.

DARBY 53, NOXON 10

The Noxon Lady Red Devils then faced the Darby Lady Tigers, falling 10-53.

The Lady Warriors would take the lead in the first quarter, and it would be almost three minutes in before the Lady Red Devils were able to break through Darby’s tight defense to put points on the board. Going into the second quarter Noxon was down by only 11 points, but the Lady Tigers were able to break down the Lady Red Devil defense to take a massive lead going into half time.

Coming back from the half Darby was able to keep their massive lead. Noxon was unable to break past the powerhouse Lady Tigers defense, keeping them to only two points in the third. The Lady Red Devils were able to cage the Lady Tigers toward the end of the final quarter, keeping them to minimal scoring. Ultimately it was not enough to take the win.

Out of the team’s 13 rebounds, Seanna Richter led with five, Richter and Emma Swanson each got two of the team’s four assists. Maygan Swanson led the Lady Red Devils with eight points.

Noxon will face the Troy Trojans for their first home game of the season on December 15.

FLORENCE 45, THOMPSON FALLS 35

The Lady Hawks traveled to face the Florence Lady Falcons sinking 35-45.

Florence came out putting intense pressure on Thompson. #5 was able to find #22 for the Lady Hawks’ first layup. Thompson was able to break past the Lady Falcons’ full-court press to go point for point at the end of the first until Florence was able to take a four-point lead. Going into the second the Lady Hawk defense tried to stop the soaring Lady Falcons but were unable, and Florence took an 11-point lead going into the half.

The Lady Hawks came out for the third quarter getting the first points on the board. Quickly Thomspon was able to score off a steal putting the Lady Hawks four baskets behind Florence. Thompson was able to fight off the full-court pressure, putting four more points on the board. With only minutes left in the third the Lady Falcons were able to put points on the board going into the fourth up 31-24. Florence was able to come out in the fourth quarter taking the first points for their own, before the Lady Hawks were able to answer with their own points. The Lady Falcons and Thompson would each bring the intensity for the final half of the quarter, with only two minutes left the Lady Hawks were down 12 points. Both teams brought the intensity, answering baskets with baskets until ultimately the Lady Falcons were able to keep their lead securing the win.

The Lady Hawks hit the road again for the Anaconda tip off this weekend.
