Thompson Falls eighth grader Lila Adams decided to do a community project to help with her future college applications. "I was talking with my mom about college and having a good resume for my applications," Adams said. She talked to her Language Arts teacher, Karissa Snead. "She suggested a community service project so we started making plans," Adams said.
They came up with the plan to raise enough food for four families to have a Christmas dinner and hopefully some extra staples for the pantry to last through the holidays. A list was made for donors that includes mainly nonperishable items. "We are going to talk to Harvest Foods next week about donating the perishable items to complete the four meals," Adams said. After one week of raising food Adams said that each box has quite a lot of food. Adams' plan is to talk to the Sheriff 's office to get names of families to give the boxes to throughout Sanders County. She hopes to have the boxes ready by the end of this week and delivered by next Wednesday, before the holiday break.
Anyone wanting to donate to the project can take items to Thompson Falls Junior High through Friday.
