Successful road trip for TFHS

The Thompson Falls Blue Hawk wrestlers hit the road going to the Deer Lodge mixer before the holidays.

The girls team had nine matches, winning five of those. Senior Desani Bewick in the 100-pound weight class took two wins by pin, and Veronica Vega lost both of her matches. Lexi Volk won one of her matches but went on to lose her second. Jaden Bewick also won her first match but went on to lose her second. In the 145-weight class, freshman Alyana Hockhalter won her only match.

“I think all of the kids wrestled really well. Coming from the large CRM meet, they kept working hard in practice and I think that showed in this meet,” Coach Mike Thilmony said of his team.

The boys had 29 matches, taking the win 13 times. Weston Block, at 103 pounds, was able to gain the win in his only matchup. Senior Diego Long won his first match up but went on to lose his second. In the 132-pound weight class, Johna Sorraco pinned both of his opponents. Luke Pastorius put down a great fight but ultimately lost both of his matches. Chris Schwab in the 145-pound weight class lost his first match up but went on to pin his next opponent. Tuff Ryder, also in the 145-pound weight class, won his first match, but went on to be pinned by his next opponent. Trever Peterson had three matchups and won one by pin. Rowan Ackley, the only Blue Hawk in the 170-pound class, pinned both of his opponents. Senior Max Hannum proved once again to be a powerhouse on the matts taking both of his wins by pin.
