The Lady Hawks added more wins under their cleats, taking down the Eureka Lions 17-0 last Monday then the Sandpoint Bulldogs 8-7 last Friday in Idaho.
The Lady Hawks were on fire facing the Lions in the first inning with Olivia Fitchett pitching a three person strike out no hitter. While Eureka tried to keep the soaring Hawks from scoring but were unable and soon the Hawks had a massive lead. Back on mound Fitchett would pitch another three person no hitter strikeout for the Hawks.
The Lions were unable to keep the flying Thompson team from scoring and the Hawks were able to keep their lead going into the fourth inning. Fitchett would prove her strong arm once again with another three person no hit strikeout. With the Hawks back up to bat for the final inning they seemed unstoppable, smashing hit after hit. While striking out the Lions with ease to take the win.
Almost every Lady Hawk scored against the Lions with Makenzie Robinson in the lead with three runs, Sarah Koskela led in RBI with three, and Olivia Harnett behind with two runs and an RBI.
In the next game Sandpoint was able to quickly take the lead in the first inning, scoring a homerun. Thompson was unable to answer with their own run in the bottom of the inning.
In the second inning, the teams kept the pressure on each other as both were unable to put a runner into home. Sandpoint was able to sneak in an RBI in the third inning, while keeping their defense up to par and Thompson to no runs.
Headed into the fourth inning, the Bulldogs were able to find the ball twice for runs, while the Lady Hawks were able to score three runs. Only Thompson would score in the fifth inning. The Bulldogs were down 6-4 headed into the bottom of the sixth inning until they were able to hit a two-run double to tie up the game. It would be Olivia Fitchett who would hit an impressive two-run triple to right field to put the Lady Hawks back in the lead.
Sandpoint was unable to answer in the bottom half of the inning, and the Hawks sealed the win.
Fitchett led in RBIs for the Hawks with three, Sarah Koskela was behind her with two, and Addie Traver, Callie McGillis and Brooklyn Cork each had one. Annalise Fairbank, Olivia Harnett and Cork each got two runs for Thompson while Fitchett and Koskela earned one each.
The Lady Hawks hit the road again this weekend taking on Three Forks/Ennis on Friday in Missoula starting at 4 p.m. and Manhattan on Saturday (also in Missoula) starting at 2 p.m.
