The Noxon-Thompson Falls Red Devils faced the Polson Pirates last Thursday, falling 24-1.
The Pirates got on the board in the top of the first inning after a left field home run scored two runs. Polson would score five more runs before the Devils had a chance to bat. The Pirates would prove their strong arm, striking out the Red Devils in just three hits. Polson would go on to score six runs on four hits in the top of the second inning. After a Pirate solo home run to left field the Red Devils would be faced with a double and a single, and a struck player would drive a run before the inning was over.
Bryson McCormick would hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the second for the Red Devils getting them on the board. Both teams would go scoreless in the third inning, while the Pirates would score 11 runs on seven hits in the top of the fourth inning to keep their massive lead over the Red Devils.
"Even though the score doesn't reflect a win, the team has made incredible growth and were successful in minimizing errors." Noxon Coach Lucas MacArthur said.
McCormick led the Devils with one run batted in, while Lars Goedhard and Shane Hatchel each got one hit for Noxon-Thompson.
"We are looking forward to taking on Troy and continuing to become more aggressive, and compounding our errors." MacArthur stated.
The Red Devils will face off against the Troy Trojans in a double header home game on Tuesday, then head to Frenchtown for a tournament Saturday.
