Track heads to state

Sanders County has a lot to be proud of when it comes to track and field, with several athletes being crowned divisional champions in their respective events this past weekend. Starting with Noxon's own Ricky Williams, who took first place in triple jump clearing 41 feet 10 inches, Williams would go on to take sixth place in the long jump clearing 19'6". He would head to state in the high jump for clearing 5'8", and he would take fifth place in the 110 meter hurdles for his time of 16 seconds.

Thompson Falls' Trinity Riffle took first place in high jump clearing 5'0" She would go on to take fifth place in the 200 meter race for her time of 27.52. Also for the Hawks Braedon Ferris threw 146'6" in discus. Plains' Marina Tulloch took first place in the 1600 meter for her time of 5:24, a new personal best for the freshman. Alexis Deming, also from Plains, took first place for her throw of the shot put, clearing 38'3.50", and would go on to take third place in the discus clearing 106'9".

While Hot Springs' David Chapman might have only taken second place in the 110 meter hurdles, the junior broke not only a school record twice, he broke his own personal record with his time of 15.16. He would go on to take third place in the 300 meter hurdles for his time of 42.73, another new personal best. He would take fifth place in the 100 meter race for his time of 11.82. Chapman would take sixth place in the 200 meters crossing the finish line in 23.92. Also taking second place in their events are Hawk Aubrey Baxter in triple jump clearing 31'6.50", Addyson Deal in the javelin throwing 108'08", and Faith Palmer for her time in the 3200 meter race of 13:03, a new personal record for the senior.

Other athletes headed to state in their events include Hawk Cael Thilmony in the 1600 meters for his time of 4:56, a new personal best for the senior. Thilmony also ran the 3200 meters crossing the finish line in 10:40, another personal best. Ian Myers threw the javelin clearing 134'07", while Braxton Dorscher took sixth place in the long jump clearing 18'11.25". Trinity Riffle, Aubrey Baxter, Addyson Deal, and Peighton Kenney also headed to state for the women's 4 by 400 relay earning a time of 4:26.

Hot Springs Elijah Campbell took sixth place in the 3200 meter race for his time of 11:32. Campbell was joined by Ben Aldridge, David Chapman and Daniel Slonaker for the men's 4 by 400 relay team, taking sixth place for their time of 3:49. Kara Christensen is headed to state for her javelin throw of 103'07".

Horseman Darren Standeford took fifth place in the 400 meters for his time of 53.46, while Joseph Martin took sixth place in the 800 meter, crossing the finish line in 2:05. Matthew Thurston earned a time of 18.99 for his 110 meter hurdle race. Cody West earned not only a new personal best but sixth place for his 300 meter hurdle time of 44.52. John Thurston, Zander Czifro, Greg Tatum, and Nicholas Hill made the men's 4 by 100 to earn fifth place for their time of 45.89. Joseph Martin, Greg Tatum, Darren Standeford, and Zander Czifro made up the men's 4 by 400 relay team that took sixth place for their time of 3:40. Peyton Wasson took sixth place in the 1600 meter race for her time of 6:04. Teammate Kalli Tuma took sixth in the 100 meter hurdles for her time of 16.83. She would go on to take third place in the 300 meter hurdles for her time of 49.10. Katelyn Subatch took fifth place in high jump, clearing 4'6".

Noxon's Shane Murray headed to state for his javelin throw of 138'3".

Thompson Falls and Plains head to Laurel for the state meet, while Noxon and Hot Springs will take to Great Falls to compete.
