Thompson Falls pool opens for summer season

The Thompson Falls city pool is once again filled with the sounds of splashing and children's laughter after not being open last year. Open swim started the week of June 10, with swimming lessons and water aerobics following the week after.

The pool opens in the morning at 8:30 a.m. with adult lap swim and adult water aerobics Monday through Friday. This is followed by swimming lessons also on the Monday through Friday schedule with level three beginning at 9:45 a.m, followed by level 2 at 10 a.m. and level one at 10:30 a.m.. The tiny tots (ages 3-5) start at 11 a.m. There are four swim lesson classes, starting June 17th through June 28th, July 1st through July 12th, and July 15th through July 26th. Lessons start at $30.00 and children may take one session only or complete the course. Adult open swim follows the swimming lessons and then open swim starts at 1 p.m. and goes until 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

"This week we had the biggest adult-only swim, and I hope to see more," said head lifeguard Lisa Ruen.

Along with Ruen there are seven certified lifeguards and three that are not certified but still help with swimming lessons and light cleaning.

"Everyone seems really happy and excited that the pool is now open again," stated Ruen.

The pool will be closed July 4-7, opening back up Monday, July 8, and finishing the season on August 9.
