Nicholas Ray Needles appeared before Judge John Larson on Tuesday for sentencing in 20th District Court.
In May, Needles pleaded guilty to one count of incest as part of a plea agreement.
Before proceeding to sentencing, the mother of the victims read her impact statement, addressing the impact of Needles’ actions on her and the children, but also the strength she has found to help her family overcome this and move forward. “My family’s finally free from your abuse,” she stated. A brief statement from the victim was read by her aunt.
Judge Larson then sentenced Needles to 100 years in the Montana State Prison, with 75 years suspended and a mandatory parole restriction of 25 years. Needles will receive credit for 257 days time served and be designated a level 3 sex offender.
Judge Larson also integrated a temporary order of protection for the victim’s family, with it becoming a permanent order if uncontested by Needles. Needles was remanded to the custody of the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office for transport to the Montana State Prison.
