Blue Hawks hit the road

The Thompson Falls cross country team took to Ronan for the Canal Bank Run.

The course is three miles along the canal, a dirt and gravel road, with lots of sunshine. Freshman Weston Block had a great time of 19 minutes 31 seconds, while Blake Shusterman had a time of 20:52. Tuff Ryder came in behind with 22:20, and Nathan Baxter finished in 22:48. Luke Pastorius (22:51) and Jakob Molina (27:24) also had a great race.

“Weston also ran on the varsity team as an eighth grader last year, and ran a fantastic first freshman race in the heat!” said coach Sarah Naegeli.

Aubrey Baxter came in hot with her time of 23:40, while teammates Lexi Franck (24:45) and Evalyn Edwards (24:50) crossed the finish line close together. Peighton Kenney had a time of 26:16, while Madeline Zyromski finished in 29:14.

“Aubrey and Peighton continue to make positive contributions to our team. Their leadership, sportsmanship and team building are outstanding,” Naegeli stated.

The cross country team hits the road to take on the Farragut Park in Idaho, a race that the team hasn’t run in over a decade. “We’re looking forward to a new course, new challenges and new teams to compete against,” said Naegeli.
